KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan hockey team will begin NCAA Tournament play on Thursday, and the Broncos will do so as a top-12 team in the country. WMU was off this past weekend, but voters still had the Broncos among the best teams in the nation. Western Michigan is a No. 3 seed playing in Manchester, NH beginning on March 23.
WMU remained at No. 9 in the DCU/USCHO.com poll, even after not playing this past weekend. Western Michigan did drop two spots in the latest USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, however. Minnesota State and Penn State were the two teams to jump over the Broncos in that poll.
