Hockey Falls in Nail-Biter to Omaha, 2-1

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Western Michigan hockey team fell to No. 12 Omaha on the road, 2-1, on Fridaynight at Baxter Arena.

WMU (7-17-3, 4-12-1-1NCHC) picked up a goal by Scott Moldenhauer and Lukas Hafner made 23 saves on the night but UNO's Evan Weninger made a game-high 28 to notch the win for the Mavericks. The Broncos outshot Omaha 29-25 overall on the night but were held 0-for-4 on the power play. Omaha's special teams was the story of the game with the Mavericks tallying a short-handed goal and a power play goal.
