KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Western Michigan head men's basketball coach Steve Hawkins and his wife Kelly wanted to find a way to give back to the community. Hawkins often has speaking engagements around the area and the couple is involved in several charitable organizations, but the two really wanted to come up with something they could take ownership of.
That's when Kelly came up with the idea of the "Hawk's Nest". Funded out of the pockets of the head coach and his wife, the Hawk's Nest brings unprivileged youth to a Western Michigan men's basketball game.
