MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – The Western Michigan gymnastics team set two milestones on Sunday, establishing a new season-high on the vault and a new program record on the balance beam in the team’s meet at Central Michigan on Sunday. Overall the Broncos scored a 193.750 compared to Central Michigan’s 196.125.
Western Michigan struggled in the opening event on bars, before bouncing back nicely to score a 48.850 on vault a season-best in its second event and a 49.175 on the balance beam in the team’s final event of the day.
“Bars was a really tough start for us but they refocused and went right back to work on vault,” head coach Penny Jernigan said.
