KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan gymnastics team was locked in a tight battle with the reigning Mid-American Conference champion Kent State on Sunday. The Broncos took three of four events from the Golden Flashes but fell in the overall score by a narrow margin 193.725-193.575.
“Winning three out of four events against the reigning MAC Champions is huge,” head coach Penny Jernigan said. “It speaks to the potential of this team. They know it and know they’re ready. It’s just time to step it up on bars.”
Western Michigan started off the day strong with its best showing of the season on vault, with a team score of 48.
