Gordie "Mr. Hockey" Howe's final pass

With a career that spanned from 1946 to 1980, Howe established many records that would be the gold standard of the sport, some of which still remain unbroken, such as games and seasons of professional play. His scoring titles were overtaken by Wayne Gretzky in later years, who Howe would play against towards the end of his career. He’s referred to as one of the greatest hockey players of all time.

Howe was born in Floral, Saskatchewan as one of nine children, and he and his family moved to Saskatoon when he was only nine days old. He began to play hockey at the age of eight and helped his father, Albert, who was a construction laborer in the summer, while not playing hockey.
