KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan golf team heads to Eastern Michigan University for the Shirley Spork Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Eagle Crest Golf Club.
The 12-team field includes Central Michigan, Cleveland State, Chicago State, Dayton, Detroit Mercy, the host Eagles, Green Bay, Northern Kentucky, Oakland, Ohio and Purdue Fort Wayne. The tournament is named after Shirley Spork, the first female introduced into EMU's E-Club Hall of fame in 1981. Spork won the Women's District Match Player Championship three times in four years and in 1947 won the first-ever National Collegiate Championship held for women's athletics.
