A college football player's impact on the field usually lasts four years.
His impact in the community surrounding the school can span a generation.
Four athletes with ties to the state of Michigan were recognized Tuesday for their excellence on the field, in the classroom and in the community by receiving nominations to the American Football Coaches Association's 2018 Allstate Good Works Team.
Western Michigan's Jamauri Bogan, Ferris State's Travis Russell, Alma College's Hunter Hoffman and Hope College's Mason Dekker were among the 169 football players ranging from Division I to NAIA to be nominated for the Good Works team, which has been honoring high-level student-athletes for their community service since 1992.
