KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its annual academic awards, with Western Michigan earning the team award and four athletes getting individual recognition.
As a team, the Broncos had a record setting year, earning a team GPA of 3.70. That was a program record. Sandra Ferrari, Mabinty Kebe, Bri'Yanna Robinson and Kayla Schiera all earned individual honors from the USTFCCCA as well.
In the classroom, Ferrari finished her freshman season with a 3.60 GPA in pre-business. She was just as exceptional as an athlete, winning the indoor 60-meter hurdles MAC Championship, while also earning a bid to the NCAA East Preliminaries.
