Former WMU pitcher Keegan Akin is eyeing his MLB debut this weekend.
The former second-round pick was called up by the Baltimore Orioles, who drafted him in 2016 following three years on the mound for Western Michigan last Saturday and manager Brandon Hyde has said the team plans to use Akin either in relief this Saturday or starting on Sunday.
Joe Trezza, the Orioles beat writer for MLB.com, said Akin had much more mundane plans for Saturday before getting the call to join the Major League team.
Keegan Akin joined the Orioles today.
