KALAMAZOO, MI - The injury bug bit the Western Michigan football team hard in 2017, but few positions suffered as much as the Broncos' defensive backfield.
On Wednesday, the team added another experienced athlete to its secondary, when former Syracuse cornerback Juwan Dowels announced his decision to spend his fifth year in Kalamazoo.

Dowels is the second Syracuse football player to transfer to WMU in the past two years, following defensive tackle Steven Clark, who joined the Broncos for the 2017 season after the Orange training staff medically disqualified him.
