KALAMAZOO, MI – A flooded field at Western Michigan’s Waldo Stadium pushed the Broncos’ homecoming matchup with Akron back a day, and it was clear the Broncos were anxious to get on the field.
WMU marched down the field on its first drive, but an interception at the Akron 6-yard line negated a great scoring chance.
The red-zone miscue was a sign of things to come for the Broncos in Sunday’s game, and it allowed Akron to escape with a 14-13 win.
WMU’s 12-game Mid-American Conference winning streak fell, as well as its nine-game home winning streak, which was good for fifth in the nation.
