YPSLIANTI, Mich. – Western Michigan's Alissa Smith sits in first place after the opening two rounds of the Shirley Spork EMU Invitational at Eagle Crest Golf Club on Monday.
Smith opened the tournament by shooting a 69 in the first round and then followed it up with a 71 in the second round. Her overall score of 140 (-4) gives her a four-stroke lead over Eastern Michigan's Natai Apichonlati. Smith's opening round score was the second 69 of the season shot by a Bronco, joining Haley Barclay. The Clarklake, Mich., native was -2 on par threes and -3 on par fives.
