KALAMAZOO, Mich. - It has been an odyssey for fifth year senior forward Deborah Meeks of Western Michigan women’s basketball. Growing up in Benton Harbor, Mich. Meeks averaged 17.2 points per game at Benton Harbor High School, was named All-State as a junior and was a finalist for Berrien County Female Student Athlete of the Year in 2011, her senior year. Meeks’ journey to Western Michigan includes three schools, three states, one national championship, two ACL injuries and a dream to play in the NCAA Tournament.
Meeks headed to the northwest out of high school and committed to the University of Washington but sat out ten months rehabbing her knee after she tore her ACL her senior year of high school.
