KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Western Michigan men's tennis player Daniel Loebel was named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Male Scholar Athlete of the Week the conference office announced this week.
Loebel, a junior with a 4.00 GPA in finance, is a Hamburg, Germany native. Loebel was a huge part of the Broncos claiming their 11th MAC Tournament Title and sending the team to the NCAA Tournament. He went 2-0 and was the first singles match done in each of the teams two matches this weekend in DeKalb, Ill. First, Loebel defeated Valentin Bouchet of Binghamton 6-4, 6-4 on Friday, April 29 to put the Broncos up 2-0 at the time and then beat Conner Anderson of Ball State in the MAC Tournament championship 6-1, 6-3.
