Smith, who was named a freshman All-American last season by Louisville Slugger, is hitting .343 this season and leads the team with six triples and six stolen bases, while sitting second in RBI (29), doubles (10) and slugging percentage (.512). He has started all 38 games this season at shortstop. Last season, he became the first Mid-American Conference (MAC) Freshman Position Player of the Year in school history and was named to the All-MAC Second Team and the All-MAC Tournament team.
