Column: Can WMU hockey survive the NCHC gauntlet?

While a new season is exciting, the question around Lawson is will WMU be able to compete in the NCHC this year? Looking at the past few seasons, it does not look like this will be an easy season for the Broncos.

Since the inaugural NCHC season in 2013-14, the Broncos have had a conference record of 23-40-8.

Coming into the season, WMU was picked to finish seventh in the conference, mirroring last year’s finish. That isn’t great, but it doesn’t mean that much, because a total of zero conference games have been played yet.

Last year was a down year overall for the team.
