Charlie Sharp makes WMU men's soccer history in 3-1 MVC semifinal win over NIU

Western Michigan men’s soccer defeated Northern Illinois 3-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference semifinal game Wednesday in an extra time thriller. The Broncos will move on to the MVC finals riding a 17-game unbeaten streak.

The stat sheet would lead one to believe that WMU won the game in blowout fashion. The Broncos dominated on all fronts outshooting the Huskies 40-10 in the match, 12-2 in shots-on-goal, and took 19 corners to the Huskies’ three. In regulation time, the Broncos allowed just six total shots.

Senior Charlie Sharp had a historic game, scoring two goals on his way to becoming all-time leading goal scorer in WMU soccer’s history.
