YPSILANTI, Mich. – Western Michigan senior Julia Champion sits in first place after two rounds of the Shirley Spork EMU Invitational at Eagle Crest Golf Club.
Champion opened the first round with a 71 (-1) to tie for first place with Youngstown State's Courtney Shutt. Champion then shot a 74 (+2) to finish the day at 145 (+3) with a two stroke lead on Shutt. She had a steady day on both the par fours and par fives, averaging even on each. She recorded five birdies and 25 pars on the day.
The Broncos sit in third place with a combined score of 607 (+15) and sit seven strokes behind Bowling Green in second and 11 behind Marshall in first place.
