NORTON SHORES, MI - As a seventh grader, Caden Broersma had goosebumps beneath layers of thermals as he watched older brother Hunter help Muskegon Mona Shores' capture its first regional title on a chilly November night in 2014.
Four years later, he was the one on the frigid field leading the Sailors to the program's second regional crown.
The 6-foot-3, 207-pound junior ran for a career-best 210 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries in Mona Shores' 58-28 regional championship win Friday over visiting Portage Northern.
"I remember when I was in seventh and eighth grade watching my brother go to the regional finals, go to the semifinals, and then end up going to Ford Field," said Broersma.
