KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan football team suffered its first Mid-American Conference loss of the season, falling to Northern Illinois 42-28 at Stafford-Smith Field at Waldo Stadium on Wednesday.
The Broncos held a 7-0 lead into the second quarter but the Huskies scored all 42 points in the second and third quarters keep WMU at bay.
After Jaden Nixon broke-off a 66-yard touchdown run to give WMU the lead in the first quarter, NIU opened up the second quarter with a 6-yard touchdown run by Terry Johnson Jr to tie it up at 7-7.
