KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season, falling to Ball State, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon at Sorensen Courts.
The Broncos (11-1, 3-1 MAC) dropped the doubles point, with Silvia Martinez and Jessica Braun defeated Kristina Tiraspolski and Karin Hamilton 6-1 at No. 2 to take a 1-0 lead. The Cardinals secured the point with Amy Kaplan and Emma Peeler defeating Femke Tjon-A-Joe and Ana Guadiana in a close contest, 7-5.
In singles action, Guadiana was the lone winner for WMU. The freshman defeated Mariya Polishchuck 6-7 (2-7), 6-2, 1-0 (10-8).
