ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Western Michigan gymnastics team opened its preseason going 2-1 at the University of Michigan on Sunday afternoon.
The Broncos turned in a score of 195.525, defeating Central Michigan (195.450) and Eastern Michigan (194.325). The Wolverines posted the top team score of the group, a 197.100.
"I thought our team performed really well, especially considering it's a month early for us" said head coach Penny Jernigan. WMU's score was the highest it has turned in during a December exhibition meet.
The top individual finish came from fifth-year senior Amanda Gruber on beam.
