DETROIT – The Mid-American Conference released its 2016 Football Preseason Media Poll on Thursday. Western Michigan was picked to win the West Division and MAC Conference Championship Game after receiving 19 of 26 first place votes, most of any school in the league on either division. It is the first time the Broncos have been picked to win the league since 2007.
The Broncos welcome back 48 letter-winners and 13 starters from last year’s team that went 8-5 overall, 6-2 in Conference play, good for a share of their first West Division title since 2000. The team went on to the program’s first ever bowl victory with a 45-31 win over Middle Tennessee in the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl.
