KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team opened Mid-American Conference play with a 5-2 win over UIC at West Hills Athletic Club on Friday afternoon.

UIC struck first to earn the doubles point, picking up a pair of 6-4 wins at No. 2 and No. 3. At No. 2 it was Edoardo Bottino and Gustavo Schwebel defeating and . Aleksa Bucan and Robinson Le Meur picked up the win at No. 3 over and . WMU's top pair of and had a 5-4 advantage but the match went unfinished.
