OLDSMAR, Fla. – The Western Michigan golf team sits in first place after the opening round of the Butler Don Benbow Spring Invitational, while two Broncos are tied for second, at Ardea Country Club on Monday.
The Broncos combined to shoot a 302 (+14) and hold a five-shot lead over second-place Belmont. WMU combined for a round-best 11 birdies and also had 47 pars.
Sophomores Megha Vallabhaneni and Jenna Hayes are tied for second overall after shooting 74's (+2). Graduate student Alissa Fish is two shots back with a 76 (+4).
