The third-seeded Western Michigan hockey team came into Sunday night’s game with their season possibly on the line. They prevailed and live to fight another day, taking down sixth-seed Colorado College, 5-2.
Similar to Saturday’s game, the Broncos jumped out to a quick start in this one with junior Dawson DiPietro opening the scoring at 1:56 of the first period for his eighth goal of the year. Assists went to fellow juniors Wade Allison and Cam Lee.
The first period was filled with physical play and heightened tensions, to go along with the ‘Lawson Lunatics’, it made for a great playoff atmosphere.
