The Broncos opened the tournament against the Villanova University Wildcats, who are the reigning National Collegiate Athletic Association champions. The Broncos gave the Wildcats a tough game, keeping it competitive but the No. 3 ranked Wildcats emerged victorious from the grind it out affair.
The game was not without its high points for the Broncos. Junior guard Thomas Wilder opened the game with a three-pointer and finished the game with 19 points while, while sophomore guard/forwards Josh Davis threw down two phenomenal dunks on his way to a career high 14 point night. The Broncos even held the Wildcats to two scoring droughts that each lasted nearly four minutes but the Wildcats offense proved to be too much and they ultimately prevailed, 65-76.
