DULUTH, Min. -- The Western Michigan hockey team suffered a sweep by No. 7 Minnesota-Duluth after falling to the Bulldogs, 4-1, at AMSOIL Arena on Sunday evening.
The Broncos (5-10-3, 5-10-3-0-0-1 NCHC)surrendered three goals in the first period and were unable to dig out of the hole.
Cole Koepke netted the game's first goal at 7:31 in the first period. Ben Alquist scored just 1:07 later to push the lead to 2-0. Connor Kelley capped off the period with a goal at 17:48. The goals by Almquist and Kelley were each the first of their careers.
