At a ruckus Lawson Ice Arena, Western Michigan lost to Colorado College 2-1 in a tightly contested first game of the three in the NCHC Quarterfinals.
The Broncos drew first blood in the contest thanks to an early goal from Drew Worrad. However, Colorado answered back with 8:39 left in the period to tie it up 1-1.
The second period didn't see any offensive production from both of the teams. Although It was a hard fought battle from both sides of the ice, neither team would able to get the puck past the goaltenders.
Colorado struck in the third period off of a power play goal to take a 2-1 lead late in the third period to ultimately decide the game.
