The No. 8 Western Michigan hockey team (18-10-1, 11-7-1 NCHC) prevailed on the road against Colorado College (11-15-4, 5-10-3), winning 5-4 in an overtime thriller.
The Broncos battled back from two goals down in the third period, seeing junior Hugh McGing bring them within one and eventually win it just 18 seconds into the overtime period.
CC would strike first 9:49 into the first period, making it the fourth time in the last five games the Broncos’ opponent scored first. They are 3-2 in those games.
Just 1:03 later, junior Cam Lee walked into the slot and fired one past CC’s goaltender to tie the game.
