KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Western Michigan softball team opened its home schedule at Ebert Field Friday, April 5, dropping game one of a Mid-American Conference series versus Kent State by a score of 5-2.
The Broncos' record falls to 10-15 overall and 3-2 in the MAC, while the Golden Flashes improve to 4-2 during conference play.
After gaining an early lead, WMU led 1-0 through five innings before a five-run rally in the top of the sixth gave Kent State a 5-1 advantage. Andrea Scali held the Bronco offense in check, limiting the home team to just three hits while nothing 12 strikeouts.
