The Western Michigan University football team started off the first leg of the Michigan Mid-American Conference trophy race on a good note, defeating Eastern Michigan, 27-24
The win puts the Broncos at 4-2 overall, having won four straight games. They are now 2-0 in MAC play to start the conference slate. On the other side, Eastern Michigan drops to 2-4 overall and 0-3 to start MAC play.
In the first quarter, Eastern Michigan had bursts of offense, including a 23 yard pass from senior quarterback Tyler Wiegers to junior wideout Arthur Jackson III, but they were stalled by the Broncos defense.
