OXFORD, Ohio – The Western Michigan hockey team battled National Collegiate Hockey rival Miami to a 2-2 tie and then fell in the 3-on-3 overtime to settle for one point in standings on Friday night.
The Broncos (14-10-5) had a two-goal lead midway through the second period but allowed power play goals in the final minute of the second period and just 1:24 into the third period to squander the lead. Neither team took advantage of the first overtime, with WMU outshooting MU 3-2 in the extra period. Gordie Green scored just 19 seconds into the 3-on-3 overtime to give the RedHawks the extra point.
