LAS CRUCES, N.M.- The Western Michigan softball team came up short against a pair of tough opponents Saturday at the Troy Cox Classic in New Mexico, falling to Creighton, 6-1, and No. 14 Oklahoma, 12-0.
Junior left fielder Ivy Schaaf accounted for the Broncos' only run of the day, hitting her first home run of the season, a solo home run in the first inning against Creighton.
Junior third baseman Kelsea Chichocki had two hits in each game, batting 4-for-5 on the day with three singles and a double. The Broncos totaled six hits against Creighton and had five against Oklahoma.
