Western Michigan hockey defeated Massachusetts 2-1 Saturday. The win advances the Broncos to the Frozen Four. It is the first time the team has made the Frozen Four in program history.
It was also WMU’s 32nd win of the season which ties the program record. The Broncos are now 32-7-1 on the season.
The two Bronco goal scorers in the second-round game were Liam Valente and Tim Washe. Sam Sjolund, Owen Micheals, Brian Kramer and Joona Väisänen.
Hampton Slukynsky continued to be the starting goalie for the Broncos and proved himself yet again. The freshman allowed just one goal while making 28 saves.
