KALAMAZOO, Mich.- For the first time in school history, the Western Michigan football team is ranked in the Associated Press top 25 poll, taking the No. 24 spot this week. The Broncos made their first appearance in a major poll last week, where they were voted No. 25 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. WMU jumped two spots in the coaches poll this week to No. 23.
Western Michigan is off to a 6-0 record, its best start since the program went 8-0 in 1941. The Broncos are one of six teams to become bowl eligible this past week, joining Alabama, Clemson, Michigan, Washington and Texas A&M.
