CLEVELAND – After a career-best performance in the 42-24 win over Ball State, Western Michigan redshirt freshman quarterback Treyson Bourguet has been named Mid-American Conference West Division Offensive Player of the Week.
Bourguet passed for 328 yards on 24 completions and three touchdowns. All three of the touchdown passes went to junior wide receiver Anthony Sambucci. The first came with 5:06 left in the first quarter, finding Sambucci wide open in the endzone from 18 yards out after avoiding a sack. His second touchdown passes came with one second left in the second quarter, this time coming from just two yards out to Sambucci out in the flat to send WMU to the locker room with a 28-10 lead.
