KALAMAZOO, MI - Mattias Samuelsson, a 6-foot-4, 216-pound blue-chip defenseman, announced his commitment to the Western Michigan men's ice hockey team Thursday.
A former University of Michigan commit, the left-handed blue-liner joins his older brother, freshman Lukas Samuelsson, on the Broncos roster.

Samuelsson is the son of 14-year NHL veteran, Kjell Samuelsson, who at 6-foot-7 had the combination of size and puck skills to earn an all-star spot in 1988 and help the Pittsburgh Penguins win a Stanley Cup in 1992.
