KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan has declared next Saturday's 12 noon Battle for the Cannon a blackout. All fans are encouraged to wear black for the September 28 game against Central Michigan.
The first 4,000 fans through the gates next Saturday will receive a black rally towel, sponsored by 58 West.
The Broncos and Chippewas will play for the Cannon Trophy, which was established in 2008 between the student governments at Western Michigan and Central Michigan. One side of the wood statue is maroon and lists each of Central Michigan's victories over the Broncos while the opposite side is brown and notes each of the Broncos' wins in the series.
