WACO, Texas – Western Michigan men's tennis player Anton Arzhankin fell in the opening round of the NCAA Men's Tennis Singles Championship at Baylor University on Tuesday evening.
Arzhankin was bested by Washington's top singles player, Cesar Bouchelaghem in two sets. Bouchelaghem got out to an early lead in the opening set, but Arzhankin battled back before being overcome 6-3.
Bouchelaghem then took the second set, 6-1.
Arzhankin and the Broncos are off for the rest of 2024 before opening up their dual-match schedule in January.
