BRANDON, Manitoba – Western Michigan hockey head coach Andy Murray will be conferred with an honorary Doctor of Laws (honoris causa) at Brandon University's, his alma mater, Spring Convocation on May 26.
Brandon University bestows individuals with an honorary degree based on significant service to the university community or society; excellence in professional life or public service; or advancement of knowledge through research or teaching. Last year an honorary degree was bestowed on Paul Martin, former Canadian Prime Minister from 2003 to 2006.
Murray, who is also a member of BU's Dick and Verda McDonald Sports Wall of Fame, played both hockey and football at Brandon before graduating in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts.
