KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Western Michigan head coach Andy Murray has been named a finalist for the Spencer Penrose Award, given out to the CCM/American Hockey Coaches Association Division I Coach of the Year.

Murray is one of ten finalists for the prestigious award after winning the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Herb Brooks Coach of the Year Award. Murray led the Broncos to the nation's best turnaround, going from eight wins in 2015-16 to 22 in 2016-17. Under his guidance, the Broncos finished in third place in the NCHC and earned home ice in the NCHC Quarterfinals for the first time in program history.
