KALAMAZOO, MI – There was something different about the Western Michigan men's basketball team Monday.
The Broncos looked like they were having fun in their 87-86 overtime win over Northeastern at University Arena.
It's a simple, almost expected thing for college athletes to have fun in the playing arena. But, with a team that has new faces in new roles and is depending on a handful freshmen to be important contributors, there is a small margin of error and tightness can occur.
Head coach Steve Hawkins said the Broncos (4-5) had a team meeting while down in Nashville for a tournament over Thanksgiving and he said the players and coaches came to the same conclusion that they had to play with more enthusiasm.
