3 things to watch from WMU football heading into matchup with Akron

Western Michigan kicks off its long awaited 2020 campaign Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at Akron on ESPN3. With the season kicking off later than usual, the team is looking to rebound from last year after just missing out on the Mid-American Conference championship game.

Here are three things to keep an eye on for WMU heading into the game.

Kaleb Eleby under center

Eleby will get his first opportunity to showcase what he can do with this Bronco offense as he replaces Jon Wassink.

He has five starts under his belt from the 2018 season, when Wassink missed the tail end of the season with a foot injury.
