In 2017, WMU finished fourth in the MAC West Division with a conference record of 12-12 and an overall record of 24-27.
“2017 we went back to the MAC tournament like we had 6 of my 7 years and we had the MAC player of the year for the first time since 1991 in Tanner Allison.” head baseball coach Billy Gernon said. “We were twentieth in the nation in batting average and with all that offense, the reason we didn’t have a better season was pretty much strictly related to pitching.”
Despite 2017 All-American Outfielder Tanner Allison, Closing Pitcher Gabe Berman, who is the all-time leader in saves at WMU, and several others graduating, Head Coach Billy Gernon still expects, as always, for WMU to win the MAC.
