KALAMAZOO, MI - Ten Western Michigan hockey players got to practice like pros for a week, after receiving invitations to train at NHL development camps.
From June 25-30, the group of Broncos traveled to arenas ranging from Los Angeles to Buffalo to learn from NHL coaches and find out what it takes to be a pro hockey player on and off the ice.
For some, including 2018-19 senior captain Corey Schueneman, the weeklong trip marked a return to the NHL stage.
"My first time it was a lot of fun and a huge learning experience to find out what they say on the ice, how they want drills to be done, how they want workouts to be done, you can see just how professional everything is," said Schueneman, who camped in Las Vegas in 2018 after spending a week in Winnipeg in 2017.
