Each game this season offers young Western Kentucky players a chance to learn and gain experience playing college softball. The Hilltoppers’ 15-player roster includes just four upperclassmen compared to seven sophomores and four freshmen.
Coach Amy Tudor’s squad got two more games worth of experience Wednesday in a doubleheader against Eastern Kentucky. The Toppers (24-15) took the first game 6-3 at the WKU Softball Complex before dropping the second 8-4 against the visiting Colonels (23-14).
Center fielder Kelsey McGuffin drove in three runs in the Toppers’ Game 1 victory. Pitcher Kelsey Aikey scattered three runs over seven innings.
