The Western Kentucky standout was one of the favorites entering the Hilltopper-hosted event at the Club at Olde Stone. And after shooting a first-round 70 and second-round 69, the redshirt sophomore was in position to defend WKU’s home turf with a victory.
Sargent accomplished that Tuesday, shooting a final-round 69 to claim his second victory of the season. He became the first Topper to win the event WKU has now hosted four times since 2012.
“Sometimes it can be just a little bit more difficult because it’s your home course and you’re used to it, but you’re expected to do better than everyone else and you’re expected to just play really well,” Sargent said.
