The one player who completely changes the makeup of the Western Kentucky women’s basketball team almost didn’t become a Lady Topper.
Raneem Elgedawy had a dream of playing basketball in the United States and, through a series of connections, committed to travel halfway around the world from Egypt to Kentucky and fulfill that goal.
The journey took much longer than expected and almost never happened.
But everything changed when Michelle Clark-Heard’s phone buzzed with a text message from Alexandria, Egypt in late July. At that moment, the Lady Topper basketball program changed and Elgedawy’s dream began to come true.
